Who's Going Green this Earth Day?

Looking to give back when getting your wedding goodies?  As Earth Day approaches, we’ve found a few of our favorite Bridal Bar professionals giving back, going green, and keeping the environment on the brain when working on your big day.  Do your part and shop local, shop green, and get out and help out to protect the earth every chance you get – wedding day and long after.  But what can you do while you plan to wed?

Buy a dress and keep the beach clean at the same time! Encore Bridal, an upscale resale and consignment e-boutique, is celebrating earth day all month long with their promise to devote an hour of their time to the non-profit organization HealTheBay.org. Owner Julie Jones feels a strong need to  keep Southern California coastal waters and beaches clean and happy, so employing earth friendly business practices was a given! As a bride looking for that perfect dress, why not throw in some feel good bonus points too?

Looking for what you’ll walk down the aisle on?  How about Eco-Runners, custom aisle runners by Customized Wedding Creations, made from 100% recycled fabric.  Believe it or not, the fabric is actually made from recycled plastic bottles that are melted down and the fiber strands are then woven into a recycled polyester fabric (yet they feel just like the standard fabric aisle runners – no one will notice the difference!)  The runners are then hand-painted with 100% organic, water-based paints with no VOC's.  This means the entire runner is 100% eco-friendly.  Very cool!  But don’t stop there - once the wedding is over, cut out the monogrammed portion of your runner and frame it so it's reused, doesn't go to waste, and gives you a gift of the memory that promises to last.

Want to get an upgrade while getting your green on?  Then head over to the LUXE Destination Weddings blog and comment on their Earth Day post and the best entry will win a room upgrade for a destination wedding!

Happy Earth Day!  Make every day Earth Day :)
