A Platinum Wedding

Tune in this Sunday for a new episode of Platinum Weddings and see this real (fabulous) wedding come to life on the small screen. We were lucky enough to get Alex Rembac of Sterling Engagements to share the exceptional event with us, just in time for its tv debut. The couple, Kristel and Jason (a former NFL cornerback for the Colts) met through Jason's sister who was also Kristel's track coach. When the stars aligned...well, the rest - is history. Cut to Feb. 20th of this year, the wedding day. The bride wore two custom couture gowns by R-Mine Bridal with over two million dollars in diamonds to accessorize her looks. The red Louis luggage bellow? One of only 23 sets of its kind in the US - and the gift Jason gave his bride on the big day. That must have been a honeymoon travelled in style!

The ceremony at Camarillo United Methodist Church was a beautifully designed romantic setting in all white and ivory. Guests were actually shuttled to the ceremony and on the tour buses were custom bags of popcorn snacks and a drink waiting for each person to take their seat. Once on the road, passengers enjoyed a special video by Imagique played of the couple’s love story as the on board entertainment.
The reception took place at the Westlake Village Inn where the couple wanted a romantic Hollywood glamour event with modern twists throughout. The elaborate décor including 40-foot long feasting tables and 8-foot tables as the head table. Each table was topped with a mirror table top, custom linens by Designer Specialty Linens, table caps over the lines with crystal brooches and dramatic floral arrangements with slightly modern twists covering what seems like the entire top surface of the tables. The flowers were vignettes going all the way down with an extensive amount of candlelight, high and low centerpieces and refluxed rose heads. The decor is almost like a topsy turvy romantic garden!

The cake, made by the fabulous Fantasy Frostings, was designed with their vows inscribed into the top tier. Each layer was a representation of a different point in the event while the large bows mimicked the bride's reception dress.

In addition to the cake was a custom dessert bar by Fantasy Frostings - all the goodies to remind guests of their home-baked favorites. And no dessert bar would be complete without a custom sports car made of cake for the groom.

The bar was actually an ice sculpture custom designed, that featured a signature drink and was set between two modern bookcases on either side with all martini’s set throughout them. Dry ice pellets were dropped in the glass to make the bookcases look like they were smoking.
Once the party really got started guests were led downstairs to a surprise lounge with scattered modern lounge vignettes set in black and red and vintage elements mixed in through the photo booth wall. This is where guests really let loose and those guests were A-List (including Kim Kardashian and many of Jason's NFL buddies).

The vintage photo booth was a 12-foot long by 8-feet high memory wall which documented photos from both Kristel and Jason’s family history and their family’s wedding day. Also framed were photos from Kristel and Jason’s stylized engagement session that suspended around the room as if they were floating.

While some guests got their photos taken others danced the night away to surprise entertainment including celebrity DJ Felli Fel and a live performance with musical recording artist Dwele. Throw in a cigar roller on site and this wedding truly had it all! Party of the year for these friends and family for sure. And the bride and groom, more beautiful and happy than a Hallmark card could ever describe.
Congrats to the happy couple and thanks to Alex from Sterling Engagements for sharing her amazing work and her clients' unforgettable event.

My girlfriend is the cousin of the bride and said the entire evening (well, weekend for that matter) was spectacular! Can't wait to see the show this sunday!
What a great post! Thanks so much for your wonderful description is this incredible event. It was a blast to be part of it, and Jason & Kristel were so much fun to work with. We are continuing to do work with them, and hope our relationship grows.
Alex put together such a great team. We are always happy to have the awesome Callaway Gable shoot our desserts, and who doesn't look stunning in an R-Mine gown?
Thanks again Harmony!
Very elegant. I love the idea too of having a dessert bar in addition or even as a replacement of the original wedding cake. I also love the candy buffets and think they are a great addition to the wedding cake. That seems to be a new trend. It also can be great to to have while people are waiting around for the bride and groom to show up!
Stunning! A wedding to remember. I love it,t he colors the theme, the orchids, cigars (something for men & women) very lush yet classy, the colors balance well!
