A wedding in Lahaina, Maui
Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at 11:00AM Last month I got to attend a wedding for not a client, but someone I love! My dear cousin Adam married his sweetheart (and she is a sweetheart) Tracy on July 12, 2010 (the same wedding date of his brother's wedding - with whom he also shares a birthday). Adam and Tracy found this fantastic private estate off the beaten path in Lahaina, HI for their ceremony and reception. The Olowalu Plantation House had a gorgeous view, big beautiful trees and a fabulous deck to sit and enjoy the scenery from. The couple wanted a low key beach wedding but not on the sand and they got exactly that. The relaxed home provided a great backdrop for Tracy to get glammed up by the girls at Jean Muldoon Hair and Makeup. She wore a traditional bridal gown but made it island appropriate with her bedazzled flip flop shoes.

The couple kept it small - only 60 guests in flip flops and Hawaiian shirts to be witness to their vows. The bright orange and fuchsia color palette made everyone smile, definitely a festive group!
During the ceremony the bride and groom took part in a Hawaiian ritual and placed leis on their mothers seated in the front row. The ceremony was officiated by a family friend and after they said "I Do" the entire guest list gathered for a group photo.

The long banquet tables were perfect for the large reception lawn. The place cards were held in either basketball (for him) or soccer (for her) figurines (which did survive the plane ride home). Favors were custom Hawaiian soaps made by local soap company, Hawaiian Bath and Body and was a party favorite of Tracy's.

Even old family photos made the rounds in a slideshow about both bride and groom growing up.

I had such an amazing time in Maui! Weddings with family always remind me why I love weddings - the people! So great to spend the week with family and no other distractions! And the vendors were so nice and welcoming, the venue was to die for, all in all a great time all week long. So happy for Adam and Tracy and so happy I got to be there when they wed. Baby next?!?!?
Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Walton! xoxo

Ah, the classic Hawaii nuptials! Looks like everything turned out perfectly.
I am amazed with the place! It is great and exotic. The concept seems to be a combination of nature and sophistication. Congratulations to the newly-wed couple!
what did you think of the plantation?
